With their help, we have accomplished new achievements for the people of Louisiana. One of new legislation awaiting Gov. Jindals signature is a bill that would limit where welfare recipients can use federal money. Under the new law people with Louisiana Purchase Cards (Louisiana EBT) would no longer be allowed to use those funds at lingerie shops, nail salons, tattoo parlors and any business with an age restriction of 18 or older. HB 1176 tightens guidelines on state legislation passed in 2013, which banned the use of EBT cards for alcohol, cigarettes and lottery tickets. Another bill, on the governors desk will raise the cost of a saltwater fishing license from $5.50 snook fishing to $13. Gov. Scott and FWC Announce Saltwater and Freshwater License-Free Fishing Days – Outdoors – Santa Rosa Press Gazette

Its never been more accessible to the common man to be able to get off shore and enjoy the natural resources, he said. An entire industry has exploded around this, and so you have a law that was in place that didnt have an industry when it was set. Gabriel said its unclear, at this point, what will actually be passed into law, and that his constituency is OK with changes that dont necessarily benefit recreational anglers in every case. In some instances, were fairly certain were going to go from 51 percent commercial/49 percent recreational to at least 50/50, if not 51 recreational/49 commercial, he said. But if it happens to go 52/48 against us, fine, thats fine. The issue is just do the process and get off the duff and do it. Moving forward From this point forward, H.R. 4742 awaits a vote on the floor of the House of Representatives, while the Senate Commerce Committee is also expected to unveil its version of the Magnuson-Stevens Act reauthorization in the near future.
